Winter Hours and Other Changes At The Farm

Our Winter Hours are Thursday to Saturday from 8AM to 6PM.

What we have learned from 7 years of farming. After years of lamenting the lack of quality food and our food system, we put our money where our mouth is and bought this farm in 2014.  I’d like to thank the community for supporting our farming efforts.  Currently, we have accomplished many significant milestones. We now raise well over 100 heads of cattle a year, nearly 100 pigs, and thousands of duck and chickens for meat and eggs. Our orchard continues to develop well, and we now grow produce year-round.  Our farm has been sustainable in many ways but has been a financial drain.  We are working to fix that for the next 7 years.

The weakness of our farm model centers around the lumpiness of customers’ consumption and our production.  For example, a customer might love our microgreens and come and buy 5 packs.  Then they fail to return for another 6 months, despite the fact that they are big champions of our microgreens. Customers who are loyal to farmers’ markets all year round, visit our store in the winter to buy eggs. We increase egg production and then they stop buying from us in Spring in order to buy from farmers’ markets. These are all free choices, but a subscription for basic food staples would help us manage what to produce.

In a subscription model, customers agree to buy from us on a weekly, biweekly, or monthly basis and they either pick it up at our farm, or we deliver it to them.

Subscription-based farming is the most environmentally conscious form of local farming because it can reduce and almost eliminate food waste.

We are launching this subscription business this January 15. It will give us perfect intelligence on what to grow for you.  If you want Baby Romaine every other week for the rest of your life, we’ll have it for you.

There are two ways to access your subscription.  You’ll manage the subscription online.  If you live within a 7-mile radius of the farm, we can deliver to you. If you live outside of the 7-mile radius, you can pick up your subscription on Thursday, Friday, or Saturday. The subscription can be changed a few days before your order.

Free Delivery is available only for Members.

Membership ties you into the community of the farm. Membership revenue helps the farm support interns, educational programs, and field trips for disadvantaged youth.

  1. Its like you learn my mind! You seem to understand a lot approximately this, such as you wrote the book in it or something.
I think that you can do with a few p.c. to power the message house a bit, but
other than that, that is wonderful blog. A fantastic read.

    I will definitely be back.
