Nourishing Fats: Fats are our Friends, but they are not Created Equal
Friday, June 23 from 5:30pm-7:30pm

In this nutritional cooking class taught by Jaime Brooke, a certified Nutritional Therapy Practitioner and Julie Webb, an Innkeeper at The Inn at Mary’s Land Farm, we will explore the topic of nourishing fats. Contrary to what many think, healthy fats are critical to overall health.

Fats have many important roles in our bodies, including being a vital part of absorbing some nutrients and producing important hormones too! We literally need them to thrive. However, all fats are not created equal. Jaime will share why we NEED these fats in our diet, which fats to include in your everyday food life and which fats to avoid all together. Following her presentation, participants will gather in the commercial kitchen for hands-on food preparation and cooking tips from innkeeper Julie Webb.

Baking & Tasting Desserts with Secolari® and Ancient Grains

Saturday, June 24th
Saturday, August 19th
Saturday, October 21st
Saturday, December 2nd
Each class runs from 1pm – 3pm followed by a visit to the Farm Store to enjoy a savings off your purchase. This is the same class offered on four Saturday dates.

Learn how to accentuate and elevate two classic dessert recipes using Secolari®  olive oils and balsamic vinegars. Class participants will taste and hear about the nutritional benefits of ancient grain einkorn flour in this unique class taught by Mary’s Land Farm Innkeeper, Julie Webb.

Participants will:

  • Bake a 5” seasonal fruit pie to take home
  • Taste multiple Secolari balsamic flavors on fresh baked pie
  • Bake a 6” cake using their favorite Secolari oil to take home
  • Learn how to make an einkorn pie crust using Secolari oil
  • Understand how oil is often a better choice for baking than butter
  • Enjoy the historic farmhouse Inn at Mary’s Land Farm

Earth’s first wheat, Einkorn, is more nutritious than modern wheats, and it contains a different type of gluten that is easier for most people to digest. Secolari® uses only healthy and fresh ingredients. With Secolari, herbs and spices are fused – or added at the first olive cold pressing – rather than infused after bottling as many retailers do. The fused difference comes through in taste, flavor and aroma.

We invite you to experience these healthy and unique flavors and look forward to hosting you at the Inn at Mary’s Land Farm!

Participants will take home a matted painting.

Intended for adults, all materials are provided, including wine.
