Cooking in Cast Iron and Tasting Secolari Salts and Balsamic with Julie

January 26 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Join us for a class on how to cook in cast iron pans and enjoy tasting various Secolari salts and balsamic vinegars. Taught by Mary’s Land Farm Innkeeper Julie Webb, participants will learn about the versatility of cooking in cast iron, how to properly season pans and also how to care for cast iron pans.

Julie grew up in an 1800’s farmhouse where her cast iron pans were handed down from generation to generation. Cast iron has always been her favorite pan for cooking rustic and delicious dishes! Julie will share the secrets to making any cast iron pan non-stick, learn general cooking tips and cast iron cooking techniques.

We will perfectly sear and cook a flank steak and taste how different Secolari salts enhance the steak’s flavor. Julie will prepare roasted vegetables in cast iron and pair them with a variety of Secolari balsamic vinegar so participants can find their favorite flavors. Julie will share her cast iron cornbread recipe which many say is the best cornbread they ever enjoyed!
